Victor J. Chavez, Co-Chair
Victor J. Chavez is a founding partner of the structural and civil engineering firm of Chavez-Grieves Consulting Engineers, Inc. He has more than 30 years of experience as a registered professional civil and structural engineer, and has worked on a broad spectrum of projects ranging from schools and universities to high- tech industrial and manufacturing plants and laboratory facilities.
In civil design, Vic’s experience includes site development plans, grading and master drainage plans, regional flood control facilities, subdivisions and roadways. He is a specialist in structural design, investigations, analysis of existing structures, research facility design and hydrologic studies.
Among his accomplishments, Vic served as Principal-in-Charge for the 3.5-meter telescope project at Phillips Laboratory at Kirtland Air Force Base. He was also involved in renovations to the State Capitol Building, and in design of the Intel Corporation plant at Rio Rancho, the Albuquerque Aquarium and Biological Park, and the Primate Research Facility. He also served for two years as the City Planning Director for Mayor Marty Chavez.
A native and life-long resident of Albuquerque, Vic attended St. Mary's High School, and received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of New Mexico.
Vic has made community involvement a priority, both personally and at Chavez-Grieves. He has been active in numerous local, state and national organizations. He has served as Chairman of the Board of the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, sits on the Amy Biehl High School Foundation Board and has chaired both the AAA Baseball Commission and the Area Commission for the City of Albuquerque. Vic was a recipient of one of five 1999 ACEC/National Public Service Awards, and the 1997 New Mexico Society of Professional Engineers “Engineer of the Year award”. In 2003, he received the University of New Mexico Distinguished Alumni award.

Pamela Chavez, Co-Chair
Pamela Chavez has 25 years experience in event planning, fundraising, public relations, volunteer development and board training. Currently the Director of Community and Media Relations for Don Chalmers Ford, Pamela’s background includes six years as the Vice President for Community and Media Relations for Wells Fargo Bank New Mexico. She owned Collaborations Consulting Company for ten years, producing and coordinating special events as fundraisers for nonprofits and corporations, and developing strategic fundraising and marketing plans for her clients.
A dedicated volunteer, Pamela currently serves on the boards of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, the Albuquerque Museum Foundation, Special Olympics New Mexico, Roadrunner Food Bank, the New Mexico chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Albuquerque Petroleum Club, and is President of the board of the Lovelace Sandia Women’s Hospital. She is the coordinator of the Albuquerque Funders group, and a member of the United Way of Central New Mexico’s Center for Nonprofit Excellence Advisory Board and their Women in Philanthropy Council. A graduate of Leadership New Mexico, she is currently a participant in Leadership Sandoval.
Originally from Louisiana, Pamela has lived in Albuquerque for 20 years. She loves to sew and is an avid gardener (when she and her husband are not attending events for their jobs and boards), and spends as much time with her husband’s two grandchildren, ages 7 and 11, as she can. Pamela’s passion for nonprofits and volunteerism keeps her engaged in opportunities to positively impact our community.
